1986 expedition entitled “Halley’s Comet, A South American Adventure.” The Inca fled up the sacred valley to escape from the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro. The Inca ultimately made their way to Machu Picchu, the so-called Lost City of the Inca. This bastion of Incan exiles was never found by Pizarro. The ruins of Machu Picchu were discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911.
